‘Tomorrow for Youth’ headquarters in the Kilinochchi district of Sri Lanka’s Northern Province has issued 2,000 applications to the former cadres of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) to join the Civil Defense Force.
Civil Defense Force is to recruit a total of 1,500 rehabilitated former LTTE combatants, 300 each from the five districts of the Northern Province – Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mullaitivu and Mannar.
The youth recruited to the Civil Defense Force are to be deployed in agricultural activities in the respective districts handled by the Civil Defense Department.
Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa the chairman of the ‘Tomorrow for Youth’ organization participated in the ceremony on June 23 to recruit the former LTTE cadres from Kilinochchi district.
The recruitment drive, a concept of MP Rajapaksa, was organized by the Director-General of the Civil Defense Department Rear Admiral Ananda Peiris under the direction of Defense and Urban Development Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.
